How We Review
Last updated: 13 August 2026
WhoPets is a UK-based pets content site. This page explains exactly how our reviews and recommendations are produced, so you can judge them fairly.
What we do
We cover dog, cat, small pet and aquarium care guides, plus product reviews. Our goal is to help pet owners across the UK choose well and get more from pets - without hype and without pretending to be something we are not.
How our product comparisons work
Our roundups and buying guides compare products that are actually available to buy in the UK right now. We do not claim to run a physical test lab. Instead, each comparison is built from four transparent sources:
- Amazon purchaser reviews - we read the customer review history for each product and look for consistent patterns: what owners praise, what they complain about, and how products hold up after months of use
- Manufacturer specifications - dimensions, materials, wattage, capacity and other published specs, checked against what is actually listed
- Independent reviews and published research - professional reviews, and for pets topics, relevant studies or guidance where available
- Price and value - current UK pricing, so recommendations reflect what you would actually pay
When we say a product is "best", we mean it scores highest across those sources for its category and price point - not that it won a laboratory bake-off.
What we never do
- We never claim to have physically tested products when we have not
- We never invent customer quotes or fabricate review evidence
- We never accept payment for positive reviews or guaranteed placements
- We never let affiliate commission rates decide rankings
Ratings
Star ratings on our product pages are based on the balance of owner feedback and value at the time of writing. Where a rating comes directly from Amazon, we say so.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, a stale price or a product that no longer performs as described, tell us and we will fix it.
Every review on this site is produced by humans working with research tools - and no review is ever bought.
